North Cheshire Wind Orchestra Commissions
Clarinet Concerto (Stephen McNeff, 2006)
We are delighted to have had the opportunity to contribute to a consortium commission for a clarinet concerto by Stephen McNeff. A renowned film and theatre composer, McNeff has recently made a big impression in the wind music field with works such as Ghosts and Wasteland Wind Music.
The solo part in this work will be taken by the virtuoso soloist, Linda Merrick. The work received a "preview performance" in March 2005 at the Finnish Wind Music Conference in Pori with Linda Merrick and the Sataakunta Wind Orchestra conducted by Mark Heron. The official UK premiere was by the Southwark Concert Band in May 2005.
