In partnership with the Vale Royal Band, Heroes and Villains sees the North Cheshire Wind Orchestra exploring the light and dark sides of repertoire from Shostakovich, Williams, McNeff and De Meij.

Transformations and Unexpected Journeys – Saturday 13th May 2017, 7.30pm – Conductor: Andrew Mallon

From raging volcanoes in Frank Ticheli’s “Vesuvius”, enchanted broomsticks in Ducas’ The “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” to resurrection in Eric Ball’s masterpiece “Resurgam”, this concert features music of change and surprise. There may even be a hobbit or two in Johan de Meij’s “Symphony No 1, Lord of the Rings”.
