Darius Milhaud - Suite Francais
Martin Ellerby - Paris Sketches
Camile Saint-Saens - Occident et Orient
Georges Bizet - L'Arlesienne Suite No. 1
George Gershwin - An American in Paris

The music in this programme explores our love affair with Paris, through the eyes of George Gershwin who visited the capital in 1928 and more recently in a tribute to the city by contemporary British composer Martin Ellerby. Milhaud’s Suite Francais embodies the essence of provincial France and incorporates French folk tunes while Saint-Saens Occident et Orient testifies to the French fascination with the world beyond Europe.
