The North Cheshire Wind Orchestra (formerly known as the North Cheshire Concert Band) is a symphonic wind orchestra based in Warrington in Cheshire who perform regularly at the town’s Pyramid and Parr Hall. The orchestra play a wide range of music including standard repertoire by composers including Gershwin, Bernstein, Holst and Strauss, more unusual and modern works, and new compositions commissioned by the ensemble. The NCWO has twice performed at the prestigious International Wind Festival at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and achieved Gold Awards at the National Concert Band Festival in the 2004 & 2005 National finals.

This concert features the World Premi
čre of 'Blame it on the Blues' written especially for two members of the NCWO, as well as the opportunity to hear McNeff's sparkling Clarinet Concerto, a previous NCWO commission. The serenity of Goto's reworking of Beethoven's famous Moonlight Sonata provides a contrast to Torke's portrait of a metropolitan hub; whilst Waespi and Basford draw on traditional folk music in their evocations of the British Isles.
